90 days. It’s all it takes to go from hero to oblivion in your customers’ minds.

My name’s Rashid Kotwal.

Got a call from a printer years ago confirming this.

He’d provided stationary and business cards to a client for 20 years.  He’d just delivered some when he noticed stuff he could have done sitting in the corner of the warehouse.

Surprised, he mentioned this.  Oh, we didn’t know you could.  This chap came in and we gave him the order.

Now wait for it.  The order was worth $500,000.

I tell this true story to every client to press home the point.

If a customer doesn’t hear from you in 90 days they forget about you should someone else offer them a similar product or service on day 91. And it doesn’t matter how well your customer knows you. The 90 day rule holds fast.

It’s a shocking fact most business people have no clue about. And I’ve seen it play out time and time again.

So the onus is on you to make sure your clients know the full breadth of what you can do for them.  And you need to keep reminding them or you’ll drop off their radar.

Remember, opportunity dances with those already on the dance floor.  You’ve spent money, time and effort acquiring the client, so make sure you give yourself the best opportunity to keep selling to them.  That is where the profit is.

And if you would like a way of keeping in touch and creating a communication strategy that will do just this give me a hoy.

Till next time, this is Rashid Kotwal.
